Resonant shattering of neutron-star crusts

Jocelyn Read's work on neutron-star crusts was selected as a Physical Review Letters Editors' Suggestion and covered widely in the press.

Jocelyn Read and collaborators from Caltech and Penn State studied how tidal resonances could shatter a neutron star’s crust shortly before a collision. Their Physical Review Letters paper was selected as an Editors’ Suggestion.

The result was featured in an APS Physics Synopsis, Ars Technica, and New Scientist.
