Strong-field gravity
Testing Einstein’s theory around black holes and neutron stars, where gravity is nonlinear, dynamical, and strongest.
The strong gravitational fields around black holes and neutron stars let us test general relativity in nonlinear and dynamical regimes. We develop theoretical predictions and observational tests that distinguish general relativity from modified theories and from compact objects that can mimic black-hole signals.
Methods
Our work draws on perturbation theory, numerical relativity, waveform modeling, and statistical inference. We study black-hole dynamics and structure, possible deviations from Einstein gravity, and the multipolar and ringdown information encoded in gravitational radiation.
